FAQs

Are there any state shapes you don't make?

Yes. Due to either extraordinary physical shapes or unusual aspect rations, we don't print the following states: California, Florida, Michigan, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Alaska, or Hawaii. Trust us, this hurts our feelings as much as yours.

Do you make any normal, rectangular metal prints?

Our specialty is custom, State shaped metal prints so we don't do standard metal prints. If you're looking for the best quality metal prints out there (what we order for our Clients at Really Montana Photography), the team at Shiny Prints based in Florida has earned our repeat business. They got famous for their metal prints of underwater scenes... you cannot beat the value they offer.

Can you make custom shapes other than the States you have listed on your site?

Yes. Just let us know what you're looking for and we'll work up a quote for you.

Do you sell fine art prints of landscapes of popular photographers?

We're just entering this market. If you know of an artist whose work you'd like to see featured on their state, just let us know and we'll reach out to them and try to make it happen.

Can you ship to a PO Box?

Because we ship via Fedex Ground, we cannot ship to PO Boxes and must use a physical address.

How large / what resolution does my photo need to be?

Because the emotional impact of your photo matters much more than the number of megapixels of your camera, we are comfortable scaling up small photos like those shot from cell phones. Also, wall art isn't typically inspected up close so viewing distances matter as well. If you have any questions about a particular photo, just reach out and we can offer our opinion.

Where will my photo be cropped/placed on my state's shape?

Great question! You can either leave that totally to us (keep in mind we're professional photographers as well) or give us specific instructions. We can always send you a proof before we actually make your metal print too, just let us know.

What finishes do you offer for your metal prints?

Most every quality metal print producer uses Chromaluxe aluminum panels and therefore offer the same finishes. The most common finish choice —by far— is the high-gloss normal (white base) option. While we can do bare metal or matte finishes, neither our customers nor us are as happy with them so we stick the high-gloss, normal option unless you absolutely insist otherwise.

How quickly will I receive my metal print?

Because every metal print we produce is a custom-made piece of art, we plan on two weeks from order to delivery.

What is your refund policy?

Our goal is complete customer satisfaction. We want you to love what we make for you so that you'll tell your friends and family about us. If you have any issue with your metal print when it arrives, just get in touch with us so we can work to make it right.

What if my metal print arrives damaged?

We'll absolutely take care of you if your metal print gets damaged during shipping. If that happens, we'll just have you send us some pictures of the damage and packaging so we can help improve our shipping processes.

Why metal vs. canvas prints?

Most other printing processes involve spraying liquid ink onto a final surface (like photo paper, canvas, certain types of wood, etc.). The metal print process uses a method called dye sublimation where a solid ink is evaporated into a gas state; this ink gas then bonds with the metal surface skipping the liquid state so the print finishes in a more vivid, stronger, and totally unique final piece of art.

The other HUGE benefit of metal prints over canvas is that you can produce any custom shape you want!

Will the color of the final metal print look exactly like my computer monitor or cell phone screen?

Probably not. We design and print using known color standards called ICC profiles. Unless you've purchased a device used specifically to calibrate your computer monitor, you're probably seeing your image in a different color than it will print. We have a team of technicians that work hard to make sure a quality metal print is our number one goal. If you have any questions about this, please get in touch with us.
